Abstract

Retropharyngeal calcific tendinitis is a rare disease characterized by acute onset of severe neck pain and odynophagia. Patients typically present with acute onset of neck pain, neck stiffness, odynophagia, dysphagia, low grade fever and mild elevated inflammatory markers. Classically, neck computed tomography shows amorphous calcifications in the longus colli muscle with fluid collection. Here we report a patient with retropharyngeal calcific tendinitis, especially aggravated by driving a car.
